Solidification and Gravity (SG) conferences are usually held every 4 years in Miskolc -Lillafüred. Since the last (seventh) conference, 6 years have passed due to changes in the world, especially the COVID crisis. Despite the difficulties, together with Hungarian researchers, 55 participants from 15 countries participated in the conference, where 38 oral presentations were given, and 15 Posters were presented (also in short oral presentations) in the In situ observation, Melt flow, Simulation and Microgravity sessions.

The 2024 CETSOL (ESA) project meeting was connected to the conference and researchers who did not attend the conference connected online.

The participants of the conference were welcomed by the Rector of the University of Miskolc for a pleasant dinner, visited Hungary’s largest wine cellar in the Tokaj region, where they tasted the world-famous Tokaj wine and participated in a special concert (from Bach to jazz).

Most participants left with the question of when the next one would be. The organisers expressed their hope that the conference will be held again in four years 2028.
