The ever-growing concern over climate change and its ramifications has led to an urgent need for innovative solutions to mitigate the increasing levels of carbon emissions. Among the various approaches, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies have emerged as a crucial method to address these environmental challenges. This study provides a comprehensive review of the current and future applications of CCS technologies and associated processes that support them.

Qualitative analysis of a range of published papers has been conducted to assess the efficacy of various CCS technologies in reducing carbon emissions. One of the focuses for example is the potential of various technologies to be retrofitted into existing plants, which offers both promising benefits and notable challenges.

Our main inspiration for this study comes from a shared passion for exploring technologies that have the potential to tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues. More importantly, we have witnessed firsthand the detrimental impact of industrial processes on the environment, making this study more pertinent than ever.
